Why two nights in Hualien on the 7-day round-island tour?
So you can do Taroko properly. Splitting Swallow Grotto, the Tunnel of Nine Turns and the Shakadang Trail across the stay keeps it unhurried — that is the biggest difference between the 7-day and 6-day routes.
Is Alishan on the final day too tiring?
Day seven covers the Alishan giant tree trails and Fenqihu, mostly at a slow walking pace, and finishes with the HSR back to Taipei. If you would rather come down the mountain earlier, just say so to your driver.
How long are the daily drives, and what does the price cover?
1.5–3 hours on average each day. The price covers a private vehicle and local Taiwanese driver throughout, 10 hours of vehicle use per day, fuel, tolls and parking fees, plus the full protection of a licensed Class A travel agency. Accommodation, attraction tickets and activity fees, meals and personal expenses are not included (local restaurant recommendations are included, so you can dine as you like).
What is the best season for this route?
It works year-round. August–September brings the sea of daylilies on Liushidan Mountain, and November–March the purple butterflies at Maolin; in other seasons the gorges, coastline and high-mountain landscapes take the lead.
