The Old England Manor sits on Shouting Lane in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, in Cingjing at around 1,700 m above sea level. The building is English Tudor in style, and its Gothic bell tower, half-timbered walls and stone-mullioned rose windows are what catch the eye first. The founder, Lo Chieh-hung (羅介鴻), came from a military background and was hands-on in everything from the design and groundwork to the carved woodwork; the furniture and décor were sourced in Europe.
The manor is a member of SLH (Small Luxury Hotels of the World) and can be booked through Hilton Honors, but it is not operated by Hilton, and it is legally registered as a homestay (B&B). Rooms are spread across three wings, A, B and C, and most are suites, from the 33 m² Plainsong Room for two up to the Anthem Double Suite of about 150–165 m² with two bedrooms. Every room has its own furnishings and layout.
Meals are served at the Weijinuo Restaurant (維吉諾餐廳), which offers lunch, English afternoon tea and dinner. Breakfast is included for the number of guests in your room type, and dinner depends on the package you book. It suits travelers who have Cingjing and Hehuanshan on the itinerary and want a stay with a sense of occasion; if you are traveling with older relatives who have limited mobility, read the notes below first.

Every evening after dinner, guests can head to the Shakespeare Music Hall to listen to a top-end Focal Grande Utopia sound system with a staff member guiding the session, and each guest is offered one alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.
To keep the listening experience intact, children under 11 are not advised to attend. Nights in the mountains are cool, so bring a jacket.

The chef builds the menu around seasonal local ingredients. Lunch runs 11:30–13:00, English afternoon tea 11:30–16:00 and dinner 18:00–20:00; smart casual dress is recommended for dinner.
Seating is limited, so both guests and non-guests should book ahead and mention any food allergies in advance. Non-guests can also reserve a meal, which lets them take photos of the castle exterior and gardens in designated areas at set times.
03Bell Tower
Henry Bar and the cigar room in the bell tower
The Gothic bell tower keeps the vertical lines of the late Gothic style and is the manor's most recognizable landmark. Upstairs in the tower is Henry Bar (亨利酒吧), and at the very top is the Cloud Cigar Room (雲端雪茄室), where you can enjoy a cigar and music among the clouds and mountain views.
There is also the Ice Cream Fun Tower (冰淇淋童趣塔), set up with small sofas and colorful desserts.

You can note preferences when booking (a higher floor or a particular style, for example), but they cannot be guaranteed. The minibar is stocked with the manor's own snacks and drinks, and bath products are Santa Maria Novella. Location
The manor is on Provincial Highway 14A in Cingjing: leave National Freeway 6 at its end in Puli, turn left onto Highway 14 toward Wushe, then take Highway 14A toward Cingjing Farm; the manor is on the right at about the 6.3 km mark. By public transport, take the Nantou Bus Cingjing line from HSR Taichung Station Exit 5 and get off at the Longzhuang stop, right next to the manor gate.
The nearby Cingjing Green Green Grassland and Cingjing Skywalk are open daily 8:00–17:00. Hehuanshan is about 24 km further up, and Lushan Hot Spring about 13 km away. Temperatures swing a lot between day and night here, and it is usually 10–12°C cooler than the lowlands.

With a private charter
Cingjing is a mountain-road trip. A private charter from HSR Taichung Station takes National Freeway 6 to Puli, then Highways 14 and 14A up the mountain. You can stop at the Green Green Grassland or the Cingjing Skywalk on the way and check in after 15:30, which matches the pace the manor recommends. The next morning, head up Hehuanshan for sunrise at Wuling, then come down to Sun Moon Lake; this route pairs well with a night at Shuishe on Sun Moon Lake for a two-night trip. The manor's parking is for guests only, so don't assume the charter vehicle can park or wait there; just explain to the butler at the entrance when you are dropped off or picked up. Mornings in the mountains are cold in winter, so talk through departure times with your charter driver.
