Route: Hualien (arrive by air) → Taroko Gorge → East Rift Valley → Zhiben, Taitung → departure. Day 1: a stroll on Qixingtan's pebble beach and the Japanese-era Qingxiu Temple in Ji'an. Day 2 is a gentle Taroko circuit: the wheelchair-accessible first section of the Shakadang Trail, the Eternal Spring Shrine viewed from afar, Swallow Grotto admired from the car, and the Qingshui Cliff viewing platform. Is Taroko too demanding for older travelers?
We use the first section of the Shakadang Trail, part of which is wheelchair-accessible, and Swallow Grotto is admired from the car window — you see the gorge without getting out. No long hikes are scheduled.
Which days are the hot springs on?
Ruisui and Zhiben each fall in the later part of the itinerary, so you can soak and then rest, with no long drive afterwards. Hot-spring fees are paid on the spot.
Where do we stay over the four days?
Mainly downtown Hualien and the surrounding area. Accommodation is not part of the charter fee, but your travel consultant can help choose hotels that suit older travelers.
Can we stop for a rest along the way?
Yes. With 10 hours of vehicle use a day, your driver builds in rest stops and restroom breaks to suit your parents, and the order of the day can be changed as you go — the most practical benefit of traveling by charter with elders.
