Le Méridien Taichung Guide: Station-Side Sky Pool & Club Lounge

Step out of Taichung Station and look up — that’s Le Méridien Taichung, Marriott’s Le Méridien brand in the city’s Central District. What Kind of Hotel Is This?

Le Méridien is Marriott International’s more design-led brand, and this Taichung property is officially Le Méridien Taichung, at 台中市中區建國路 111 號, tel +886-4-22240888. The hotel describes roughly 228 rooms and suites, sitting right beside Taichung Station and the transit hub, with an easy link from Taichung HSR Station — a natural transfer point if you’re using “one night in Taichung” as the hinge of a central Taiwan trip.

The soaring lobby makes the first impression: white stone columns, ring lights, globe pendants, and yellow sofas arranged in little islands. Right beside it is the lobby bar Latitude 24 — gold lettering on the wall reads “北緯 LATITUDE 24,” with gold stools lined along the bar. Per the hotel website (checked August 2026), Latitude 24 is open roughly 10:00–17:00 (last order around 16:30), more café than night bar by day; go by what’s posted on site.

The public lounges use herringbone floors, curved sofas and gold cylindrical screens — comfortable enough to wait for people or a luggage cart without feeling stranded. Room outlook and floor height vary by room type: some of the rooms we photographed look over the station tracks, others more toward the city. If you want a particular view, ask the hotel when you book.

The Rooms: King, Twin and a Marble Bathroom

Rooms lean on dark timber and black-and-white patterned carpet, with a grey headboard wall and sofas in black and mustard yellow. By the window you’ll usually find a work desk or a sit-lounge corner; the TV sits in a circular backlit wall, with a mini bar, kettle and coffee machine alongside.

Traveling with kids or friends, a twin sleeps more easily; couples usually prefer a king. The bathroom is white marble, with an oval freestanding tub and rose-gold floor-mounted faucet, a ring-lit round mirror over the vanity, and robes and amenities by the tub — soak first, then head upstairs to the pool, and you won’t feel the chill as much in summer.

The 24th Floor Is the Main Event: Infinity-Edge Glass Pool and Terrace

What people actually remember about this hotel is usually the 24th-floor sky pool. The edge is clear glass, so from the waterline you look straight down into the city below; loungers line one side, and the wall carries “禁止跳水 NO DIVING,” “淋浴 SHOWER” and the pool water-quality report.

Per the hotel’s pool notice (checked August 2026): open 07:00–20:00, cleaning 12:00–13:30, closed for routine maintenance on the first and third Mondays of each month; access is via the 23rd-floor fitness center, and it’s guests only. This is an ambient outdoor pool, not heated — comfortable on a summer evening, in winter you may only want the photos. Actual opening hours and private-hire closures go by what’s posted on site.

On the same level, the terrace has rattan sofas and a diamond-pattern living wall, with Taichung’s skyline and distant hills beyond the glass rail. An evening drink up here is the best value of the stay — you don’t need a restaurant booking to watch the city light up.

PANO 24: Rooftop Bar for Sunset

Right beside the pool is the rooftop bar PANO 24. Officially on the 24th floor, it leans toward desserts in the afternoon and turns into a bar at night. Per the hotel website (checked August 2026): Sunday–Thursday roughly 14:00–01:00, Friday and Saturday roughly 14:00–02:00 (food and drinks stop a little earlier than closing); high-altitude afternoon tea runs about 14:00–17:00, limited daily. On-site standee hours can differ from the website — go by the day’s notice.

Table areas have a minimum spend and no outside food; after 22:00 minors are not allowed — with kids, afternoon tea is the better window, and leave the late session for adults.

The lobby also has a long bar seating area — gold stools and bottle shelves — handy while you wait for a room or just want to sit; meals are usually at the all-day restaurant Latest Recipe (breakfast is here too; this article’s photos don’t cover the dining room, so details go by the website and what’s on site).

Le Méridien Club Lounge: Exclusive Food and Drinks

Gold lettering on the wall reads “Le MERIDIEN CLUB LOUNGE 艾美行政酒廊.” This isn’t a casual lobby café — it’s a private space for Club-floor room types (or specified Marriott elite memberships). Per the hotel’s room-type pages (checked August 2026), lounge service runs roughly 14:00–22:00, with a twilight drinks hour (about 17:30–19:30); children 6 and up are charged separately, and outside food is not allowed. Standard rooms usually can’t get in — confirm your rate includes access before you book.

Inside there’s a self-serve drinks bar: beer, whisky, kaoliang, liqueurs, tea bags and soft drinks are all labeled; the food line runs salad and fruit, bread and cold cuts, mini burgers, bite-size sandwiches, pizza and tempura-style snacks. Name cards say Club Lounge; the lineup rotates, and the photos only show what was out that day.

With lounge access, come up for a round of food and a drink in the evening before deciding whether to head downstairs for dinner or up to PANO 24 — especially handy if you’re only staying one night and leaving early the next morning.

How to Build a Taichung Itinerary Around a Night Here

The hotel’s biggest advantage is being right by the station: roll luggage straight from the train or coach into the lobby, and the next morning you don’t have to cross half of Taichung to find a pickup for Sun Moon Lake, Cingjing or Alishan.

• Next day: decide whether to hit the pool again early (it opens at 7), then leave for Sun Moon Lake or city sights.
• One-night transfer only: leave bags at the front desk, walk the Miyahara / old-city lanes, and come back to the hotel for the night.
