Kaohsiung Airport Lounge Guide | Southern Premium Lounge Dining and Seating in Photos

When choosing a lounge at Kaohsiung Airport, first check which one you can access, then consider how much time you have before boarding. This guide introduces the Southern Premium Lounge shown in the photos: orange armchairs are grouped behind dark partitions, with a buffet counter running along one side. Alongside hot dishes such as fried rice and tea eggs, there is a separate ordering menu. If you simply want to sit down with a drink, there are refrigerated drinks, coffee and ice cream too. Food selections change, however, so avoid squeezing your boarding schedule just to try a particular dish.
Where is Southern Premium Lounge? Separate departures from airport transfers
Southern Premium Lounge is on the west side of 3F in the international terminal at Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), after departure security. CTBC’s location map indicates a walk of about 3 minutes west after security; follow the airport signs for Southern Premium Lounge. This walking time covers only finding the lounge within the restricted area. It does not include airline check-in, baggage drop, security or passport control.
The entrance has a stone facade and a gold sign. Inside, the lighting is noticeably dimmer than in the bright, high-ceilinged terminal corridor. First confirm your benefits and permitted stay at reception, then take a seat and get food. This avoids ordering before discovering that a companion must pay separately.

Opening hours are taken from the Kaohsiung International Airport services page, with the location based on CTBC’s Southern Premium Lounge map. The entrance photo shows 05:00–21:00, which differs from the hours currently listed on the airport website. For a very early or late flight, call ahead instead of planning solely around the photographed sign. The photo also lists takeaway service hours, but takeaway is separate from regular lounge dining; ask which services it covers.
Credit cards, memberships and paid entry: what to check before reception
CTBC’s official airport lounge FAQ lists Southern Premium Lounge and states that travelers use their own CTBC credit card. This does not mean every CTBC card or every accompanying family member receives free entry. Your card type, annual supplementary benefits and remaining visit allowance affect your entitlement.
Before departure, ask your card issuer about four things: whether your card covers Southern Premium Lounge, whether spending or airfare-payment conditions apply, how many visits you have left, and how accompanying adults or children are charged. Bring your boarding pass, your own card or the electronic credentials required by your plan for reception to check.
If using another membership plan, look for this lounge in that plan’s official directory and confirm that the partnership still applies on your travel date. Without suitable benefits, ask whether paid entry is available, the price that day and the stay limit before deciding whether it is worthwhile. For prices and benefits under different plans, refer to reception and each plan’s official notices.
Armchairs and partitions make room for a seated meal
The cover photo shows the main seating arrangement: orange armchairs with small tables, dark partitions dividing neighboring seats into groups, and a central aisle. Aircraft decorations and flight information screens hang on the wall. With the buffet along one side, you do not have a large space to cross with your plate on the way back to your seat.
The seating works for one or two people having a meal or a short rest. Families sitting together will depend on available seats. Partitions provide some visual screening, but the layout shown is not a set of private rooms, and an armchair should not be treated as a flat sleeping bed. Ask ahead about meetings, showers or specific work equipment rather than assuming the name “business center” means all are available.
Once seated, check the boarding time and gate on your boarding pass, then set a reminder to leave. There are flight information screens on the wall, but you should still follow the airline’s latest notifications yourself. Discovering halfway through a meal that your gate is on the other side can turn a restful break into a rush.
More than snacks: salads, fried rice and hot buffet dishes
The cold section includes lettuce, tomatoes and bell peppers, with Japanese-style dressing, sesame dressing and olive oil nearby. Start with a salad if you want something lighter. The photos also show other cold dishes, but where names are unclear, color alone is not enough to identify meat or ingredients.
Hot food is served in warming trays. The photos show a stew with potatoes and carrots, green vegetables, mushrooms and scrambled eggs with corn, offering alternatives to the cold dishes. If you have dietary restrictions or need vegetarian food, ask about stock, fats and ingredients. A dish that looks vegetable-based is not necessarily vegan.
Signs in the staple-food section identify “Yangzhou fried rice” and “tea eggs,” with fried food under heat lamps alongside them. For early-flight travelers who left home without breakfast, a small plate of rice with hot dishes offers more choice than biscuits alone. Start with a modest portion, check whether you want to order anything else, then decide whether to return for another plate.
The fried-food area also has sauces and soup pots. Watch the heat lamps and hot-surface notices when serving yourself.
An ordering menu too: beef soup, noodle soups and pork buns
Food here is not limited to what you collect from the buffet. The mobile ordering screen is headed “Southern Premium Lounge,” with “Non-vegetarian (Breakfast)” and “Vegetarian (Breakfast)” categories. The supplied screenshots show milk-butter thick toast, pork soup, pork noodle soup, kung fu beef soup, kung fu beef noodle soup, rice and Kuan Lai Shun pork buns. These are the categories and items displayed at that time, not a promise that the same breakfast menu is available throughout the day.
The meal photographed at the table consists of a bowl of beef soup, a pork bun and a small side dish. Beef soup and beef noodle soup are separate items, so read the name carefully if you want noodles. If you have already taken fried rice, choose soup or a bun to suit your appetite rather than filling up on both buffet and ordered food at once.
Every item on the menu displays “$0.” Confirm this with reception alongside your access plan and permitted orders; it does not mean anyone can enter and eat for free. For vegetarian food, switch to the relevant category and ask what is available. Vegetarian options depend on the menu available on site. If boarding is approaching, ask about the wait before ordering.
Drinks, coffee and Mövenpick ice cream
The refrigerator offers straightforward choices: boxed tea, juice, soft drinks, milk and soy milk, with desserts on the upper shelf. Labels visible in the photo include lollipop cake, lemon tart and longan walnut cake. If you like dessert, check the refrigerator rather than looking only around the hot-food counter.
The adjacent Mövenpick freezer holds several tubs of ice cream. Check the flavor labels on site when choosing ice cream, and do not expect the same selection on every visit. If you have time after your hot meal, a small scoop makes a dessert; if you are about to leave, avoid filling a bowl that you will have to finish in a hurry.
The coffee area has coffee machines and instant cup noodles. A shelf sign says “For dining in; please do not take away,” while the refrigerator separately asks guests not to take drinks away. The entrance’s takeaway service notice therefore does not mean you can help yourself to drinks from the refrigerator or cup noodles to carry out. Ask separately about the takeaway plan.
The bar photos show an Asahi draft beer dispenser, wine and spirits, in a separate area from the refrigerated canned drinks. Brands and availability depend on the day. Whether or not you drink alcohol need not determine your lounge plans; water, coffee and other choices are available. The on-site alcohol notice advises against excessive drinking and states that those under 18 must not drink alcohol.
How much time should you allow? Plan check-in and boarding first
Whether the lounge is worthwhile depends on the time remaining after departure formalities. If you already have access benefits and need a meal, allow a break before boarding. If only a short gap remains, finding your gate is usually more practical than detouring for food. For paid entry, compare the total cost for your party with the time you can actually spend inside.
When booking an airport drop-off, work backward from the airline’s required terminal arrival time, then allow for traffic from your starting point, checked baggage and departure formalities. Add lounge time separately if you want to use it. “About 3 minutes after security” does not mean you can eat 3 minutes after stepping out of the vehicle. Arrange arrivals and departures separately too: this lounge is in the international departures restricted area, so arriving passengers meeting a driver cannot use it as an ordinary meeting point.
For travel with older relatives, children or several bags, ask Kaohsiung private charter services about transfers between your accommodation and the airport. Provide your flight, date, pickup and drop-off addresses, passenger count and luggage count so the operator can assess the vehicle and timing. A private transfer and lounge access are separate services; booking a vehicle does not include lounge benefits.
Connecting a southern Taiwan trip with a Kaohsiung Airport transfer
If your trip starts in Kaohsiung, or you are flying out of Kaohsiung Airport after touring southern Taiwan, decide where you will stay each night before arranging the final day’s airport drop-off. Avoid using up your international check-in buffer to add a distant attraction. Plan the lounge after completing the necessary airport procedures.
- For a family trip through Tainan, Kaohsiung and Kenting, see the Tainan, Kaohsiung & Kenting Family 4-Day Tour, then ask about transfers around your actual flight. The original itinerary does not automatically include a transfer for your specific flight.
- For heritage sights in Tainan, Lotus Pond and Fo Guang Shan with older relatives, see the Tainan & Kaohsiung Senior-Friendly 3-Day Tour. Mention walking needs, luggage and flight times in advance.
If you already have card benefits, check your eligibility before departure. After completing airport formalities, decide whether to enter according to the time remaining, and Southern Premium Lounge can provide a well-timed rest during your journey.
FAQ
Is Southern Premium Lounge before or after security at Kaohsiung Airport?
It is on the west side of the international departures restricted area on 3F, after security. Complete check-in, security and departure formalities first; friends or relatives seeing you off cannot simply accompany you inside.
What are the opening hours of Southern Premium Lounge?
The Kaohsiung International Airport website checked in 2026-10 lists 05:30–20:30, subject to flight schedule changes. The photographed entrance sign shows 05:00–21:00. As these differ, call 07-8055558 before an early or late flight to confirm.
Does having a CTBC credit card mean I can use it for free?
CTBC lists Southern Premium Lounge in its official FAQ, but holding a card alone does not establish free access. Check the current-year conditions for your card, visit allowance, spending requirements and guest charges, then take the required credentials to reception for confirmation.
Does $0 on the menu mean anyone can eat for free?
No. This is the ordering menu inside the lounge. It does not establish the admission charge or whether all food and drinks are covered by your access plan. Confirm your entry eligibility and dining benefits with reception first.
Can I use this lounge on a domestic flight or after arriving in Kaohsiung?
It is in the international departures restricted area, so it is not a public lounge for domestic departures or arriving passengers. For special transit arrangements, ask your airline and the lounge whether you can reach and use it.
